Wilhelm Backhaus schw\u00e4rmte: \u201eDas Duplex-Piano ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Errungenschaft im Klavierbau seit der Erfindung des Hammerklaviers.\u201c Das Register des Clavichembalos und die Koppelung (Verdoppelung der Oktaven) im modernen Klavier einzubauen, das sei die Idee, meinte Ferruccio Busoni. Pleyel, Bechstein, Steinway, B\u00f6sendorfer, alle stiegen ein. Doch der Boom dauerte nur ein Jahrzehnt. Mit\u00a0Mo\u00f3rs Tod 1931 wurde das Instrument allm\u00e4hlich vergessen. Immerhin gibt es noch ein Foto, auf dem seine Witwe Winifred auf dem Duplexpiano mit Ernst von Dohn\u00e1nyi 1936 in Budapest konzertiert.<\/p><p>Vergessen wurde auch Mo\u00f3rs Musik. Sie ist die eigentliche Entdeckung auf dieser CD, denn auch bei dieser Demonstration wird klar: Der moderne Steinway macht die klangliche Wucht des zweimanualigen Klaviers wett durch Brillanz.\u00a0Mo\u00f3rs Cellosonate c-Moll op. 22 gewinnt durch das Instrument allerdings an Raum. David Strombergs Cello singt darin sonor und sinnlich. Die Brahms-nahe Sonate des geb\u00fcrtigen Ungarns entpuppt sich als ein Meisterwerk voller \u00dcberraschung und Erf\u00fcllung. Der Sonatenhauptsatz spannt einen weiten Bogen, das Adagio ist wie ein Liebeslied und das Finale wartet mit Dramatik auf.<\/p><p>Aus der gleichen sp\u00e4tromantischen Sph\u00e4re stammt Dohn\u00e1nyis viers\u00e4tzige Cellosonate h-Moll op. 8. Stromberg und Uhlig st\u00fcrzen sich feurig ins Vergn\u00fcgen, und im finalen Variationensatz haben die Klangschattierungen des Duplex noch einmal den gro\u00dfen Auftritt.
